June Roundtable
June’s Writer’s Roundtable is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 6 at the Paseo Verde Library’s Coffee Press cafe.
This month’s lead-off topic is “Contracts, Contracts, Contracts! (and Legal Terms Every Writer Should Ask About)”
WSN President Eric James Miller will discuss the different types of contracts and legal terms every working writer should be familiar with. This discussion promises to be informative, but informal. Everyone will have the chance to share their experiences and ask questions about the business aspects of being a working writer. As always, the conversation is likely to morph and evolve in different directions depending on what everyone brings to the table with their cup of joe, latte, or tea.
Free for WSN members, $5 for guests.
(if you have a subject you’d like to suggest for an upcoming Roundtable, please send it to nevadawriters (at) gmail (dot) com with the Subject “Roundtable Topic”)

This month’s topic: Saving Your Darlings
The old adage “kill your darlings” has been editing advice given to writers for decades.
This month we’re going to talk about getting to the heart of style
by looking at what we love about our own writing
and discussing saving, rather than deleting, what you love best about it.

This month’s topic: Home
Is “home” a house, a city, a country, a state of mind? What does it mean to long for home, to return home, to never leave it? How do we bring freshness and even strangeness to the most familiar of places?
We’ll also examine how time changes the meaning of “Home” for us and the characters we create.
Feel free to bring examples from your own work and that of your favorite authors. Join your fellow writers for this fun, casual event, hosted by UNLV narrative media professor Greg Blake Miller.
