June 2022 Writers Roundtable
Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 6-7:30PM
Writers Roundtable
(A monthly, informal discussion where we talk about topics relevant to today’s working author.)
May’s topic: “Endings: The Good, The Bad, The Sequel”
This month’s meeting will look at our favorite and not so favorite endings
in an effort to better understand what works, what doesn’t
and how an ending can be used to finish telling one story
and at the same time set the stage for a sequel.
Moderated by outgoing WSN President Eric James Miller
and (hopefully) Olympian Creative founder Greg Blake Miller
Writing does NOT have to be a solitary art!
Show up, share, learn and get inspired
along with other working authors
from the comfort of your own home!
(where wine is always on the house!)
This will be another virtual meeting via Zoom.
The meeting invite will be sent out to the WSN Community
via email.
(FREE!!! FREE!!! FREE!!!)

Writers Roundtable – August 2019
Our next Writers Roundtable
will be on Tuesday, August 6, 2019
Topic: TBD
2019: May Writers Roundtable
This one is a little different, but should prove interesting:
“Analogue Writing About a Digital World”
How do we portray a screen-based world in our fiction and nonfiction?
Moderator Greg Blake Miller is going to bring some essays (including a great one by Oliver Sacks)
to discuss and as always we invite attendees to share examples of artful portrayals of the modern wired age
(such as “Black Mirror” and the recent movie “Searching”).
February 2018 Writers Roundtable
Open Discussion – What are you looking to accomplish in 2018?
What tools, resources or partnerships would you like to find to help you accomplish those goals?
Nov 7, 2017 Roundtable
Theme: Revolution and Change: Telling stories of transformation, from the personal to the global November 7 marks 100 years since the Bolshevik Revolution shook the world. In the spirit of those days and their dubious legacy, we'll be talking about stories of transformation, the moments big and small that alter our lives and communities.

This month’s topic: Saving Your Darlings
The old adage “kill your darlings” has been editing advice given to writers for decades.
This month we’re going to talk about getting to the heart of style
by looking at what we love about our own writing
and discussing saving, rather than deleting, what you love best about it.

This month’s topic: Home
Is “home” a house, a city, a country, a state of mind? What does it mean to long for home, to return home, to never leave it? How do we bring freshness and even strangeness to the most familiar of places?
We’ll also examine how time changes the meaning of “Home” for us and the characters we create.
Feel free to bring examples from your own work and that of your favorite authors. Join your fellow writers for this fun, casual event, hosted by UNLV narrative media professor Greg Blake Miller.
