Writers Roundtable: April 3, 2018

“Dreaming of Elsewhere and Otherwise: The Art of World-Building in Fiction and, Yes, Even Nonfiction.”

The art of creating finely-tuned detailed environments inform, contain and motivate the arc of your story and the actions of your characters.

World-Building is almost exclusively invoked in discussions of fiction, and most often fantasy. But how might the notion be useful for writers of nonfiction as they cobble together the contexts and sensory textures of past lands and times?

Bring an example of world building you think works, or doesn’t work, particularly well. Or, feel free to bring brief excerpts from your own work to share.

Free for WSN members, $5 for guests.

We look forward to seeing you at the Coffee Press inside the Paseo Verde Library!
