Writing for Love – Author/Reader Event

On March 12, 2014, readers and authors or romantic and erotic fiction will have a rare opportunity to mix and mingle, as Writers of Southern Nevada presents “Writing for Love.” Beginning at 6 pm, at the Downtown Cocktail Room, 111 S Las Vegas Blvd, the event will feature numerous local authors in the romance and erotic genres.
London Porter and Moriah Densley will read from their latest works, while other local authors will be on hand to sign books, converse , and answer questions regarding their work, and these popular fiction genres. Romance fiction is enormously popular, with an estimated $1.350 billion in sales in 2013. In 2012, romance fiction sold more than twice as much as its closest competition, inspirational fiction, and outsold mystery and science fiction/fantasy combined. One reason for the genre’s popularity is its breadth. While a romance will always have a love story, it also includes an additional plot, which may involve elements of mystery, suspense, science fiction, fantasy, or inspirational fiction. In recent years, erotic romantic fiction has grown enormously in popularity, as evidenced by titles such as 50 Shades of Gray.
Writing for Love will feature authors who write in a wide assortment of romance and erotic subgenera, including romantics suspense, romantic comedy, historical romance, and paranormal and fantasy romance.
Attendance is free for authors and the public. Enjoy cocktails and snack on sweet treats provided by Sugar Factory.
