Writers of Southern Nevada

Mark your calendars! The Writers of Southern Nevada is having our first everMembers Meet & Greet next Wednesday December 17, 2014 from 7-8:30 PM at Bahama Breeze, which is conveniently located in the center of town on the corner of Flamingo and Paradise.

As a new member, the first drink is on us! 

At the meeting, we will be accepting submissions for our first Painted Stories event scheduled for late January/early February. If you have a 10-15 minute excerpt, or stand-alone piece, of your published or unpublished work that you think would inspire an artist to sketch/draw/paint behind you as you read, then bring it with you to the meeting! We are currently looking for 2-3 more authors to participate. If you can’t make it next Wednesday, please forward your submission to nevadawriters@gmail.com in Word, or other text-friendly format, with the subject line Painted Story Submission.

We will also be discussing the Copyright & Tax Tips for Authors Panel currently planned for late February/early March, along with ongoing enhancements and ideas for the WSN web-site.

Of course, you’re welcome to bring as many friends as you’d like to Bahama Breeze next Wednesday as we’ll also be inviting prospective members who have expressed interest in joining our ranks. However, only official 2014/15 WSN Members like you are eligible to read their work in our Painted Stories/Readers & Artist Event. The event will be open to the public for $5-10 depending on our venue costs, but will be free for all members whether you’re reading a piece or not!).

If you would like to be a volunteer reviewer on the Submission Committee for the event, or if you have a suggestion for a easily accessible/low-cost venue (our first three choices either weren’t available or were too expensive), please send a quick note tonevadawriters@gmail.com
